Professor Ghayur Alam is the senior most Professor of Law at the National Law Institute University, Bhopal, India (NLIU). He is an alumnus of Aligarh Muslim University, and the senior most Professor of Law at National Law Institute University (NLIU), Bhopal, and is also Senior Professor by designation. He also holds the DPIIT-IPR Chair Professor at NLIU.

On 1 August 1998, he started his academic career at NLIU and has been actively involved in the working of the University from its inception. He was awarded Fulbright Fellowship to read for his Ph. D. at The George Washington University Law School, Washington DC, USA; Cardiff Law School and British Council Scholarship, UK; Texas Instruments Scholarship by CASRIP, University of Washington, USA; and AMU Merit Scholarship for eight years.
