Prof. (Dr.) Jai Prakash Rai is a senior Professor of Law at Banaras Hindu University (BHU) with over 24 years of academic experience. A gold medallist in LL.M. with specialization in Constitutional and Administrative Law, he earned his Ph.D. on state liability in cases of fundamental rights violations. He has held progressive academic positions at BHU since 2006 and previously served at Harish Chandra P.G. College.

Dr. Rai is a prolific legal scholar and active institutional leader, having served as Proctor, Administrative Warden, Curriculum Committee Coordinator, and member of numerous university and faculty-level committees. He has presented over 75 papers at national seminars and workshops and has authored influential publications in reputed law journals on RTI, judicial accountability, constitutional torts, and surrogacy law, among others.
